The Padres came from behind to beat the Marlins 4-3 in 11 innings on Monday night to kick off their homestand with some flare. The Padres trailed 3-0 after 2 innings, but Randy Vasquez was able to hold it down from there, and pitch 6.1 innings, allowing just the 3 runs to earn a quality start. Jose Iglesias ripped a 2-run double down the third base line in the 4th inning, as the Padres capitalized on Connor Norby's throwing error earlier in the inning to score two unearned runs off of Ryan Weathers. Manny Machado tied the game with a solo blast in the 8th inning. Both team's bullpens were tremendous, but the Padres' was just a little bit better. Wandy Peralta, David Morgan, Robert Suarez, Jason Adam and Adrian Morejon combined for 4.2 scoreless innings, allowing just 1 hit and 1 base on balls. In the bottom of the 11th inning, Manny Machado began on 2nd base, and advanced to 3rd on Gavin Sheets' groundout to second base. Tyler Wade then pinch-ran for Machado, and ended up scoring from 3rd on a wild pitch from Cade Gibson to earn the 4-3 win. Stephen Kolek will start Tuesday's game for the Padres.
