Thousands of undocumented kids could be tossed out of daycare following an executive order from Governor Abbott.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott has ordered state regulators to yank the licenses of child care facilities across the state that care for undocumented minors.
Currently, 52 state-licensed facilities have contracts with the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement to care for those undocumented children. Within about three months Abbott’s executive order would force those operators to stop caring for those kids.
Abbott says these undocumented children are draining resources that could be used to help foster children in Texas.
Groups that work with refugees children say the order could displace about 4-thousand kids across Texas and would put a lot of Texans out of work.
