In preparation for Hurricane Laura hitting the Gulf coast some area schools have announced closures.
Alief ISD -- online instruction, virtual offices and facilities will be closed Wednesday, August 26th through Friday, August 28th. Meals will not be served while the district is closed.
Alvin ISD -- will be closed Wednesday, August 26th and Thursday, August 27th.
Anahuac ISD -- The Anahuac Independent School District announced it will be closed Tuesday, Aug. 25 through Friday, Aug. 28
Beaumont ISD -- facilities will remain closed for the remainder of the week.
Brazosport College -- Brazosport College will close Tuesday at 5 p.m. through Thursday. All evening college classes scheduled for Tuesday, including online, face-to-face, or in a hybrid/blended format are canceled, the college announced. Meanwhile, any classes scheduled before 5 p.m. Tuesday will continue as scheduled.
Brazosport ISD -- Brazosport ISD will be closed Tuesday through Thursday and the district said there will be no in-person or virtual classes during the days of the closure.
Clear Creek ISD -- The Clear Creek Independent School District is issuing an early release for all staff and students at noon Tuesday. Schools will also be closed on Wednesday and Thursday. A decision regarding Friday will be made on Thursday and communicated to parents and staff.
Cleveland ISD -- Will close schools Wednesday, Aug. 26, through Friday, Aug. 28. We believe this is in the best interest for our students and staff. School will resume on Monday, Aug. 31.
College of the Mainland -- Closed as of noon Tuesday through Friday. Classes expected to resume Saturday.
Danbury ISD -- Danbury ISD schools and administration offices will close Tuesday, Aug. 25 at noon and will remain closed through Friday, Aug. 28.Dayton ISD -- Classes canceled Wednesday through Friday, Aug. 26 - Friday, Aug. 28
Dickinson ISD -- Students who are on campus today will be dismissed at 11 a.m. and all staff will be released at 12 p.m. DISD will have a full-day closure on Wednesday, August 26 and Thursday, August 27. (There will be no remote instruction on Wednesday or Thursday.) A decision regarding Friday, August 28 will be announced on Thursday.
East Chambers ISD -- will transition to totally virtual learning Tuesday, August 25, 2020. As soon as the threat has passed they will to reopen for in-person face to face instruction.
Fort Bend ISD -- All FBISD schools and facilities will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.
Friendswood ISD -- Due to inclement weather, FISD schools and facilities will be closed Wednesday, August 26 - Friday, August 28.
Galveston ISD -- The Galveston Independent School District announced that the district will be closed today, August 25, and for the remainder of the week. A mandatory evacuation was issued for all residents. All on-site and remote classes have been canceled. Classes will resume on Monday, August 31.
Goodrich ISD --Schools and offices will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 26 -27
Goose Creek ISD -- Goose Creek CISD will be closed Wednesday through Friday due to the predicted impact from Hurricane Laura.
Harmony Public Schools -- Closed Wednesday and Thursday.
Houston ISD (HISD) -- All facilities and offices closed Wednesday and Thursday.
Huffman ISD -- School cancelled on Tuesday and Wednesday, August 25th and 26th as a precautionary measure. Meal pick-up will start when classes resume.
Lamar CISD -- Closed Wednesday through Friday.
La Porte ISD -- All district operations, including virtual instruction and extracurricular activites, are suspended through at least Thursday.
Liberty ISD -- Classes canceled Tuesday through Friday, Aug. 25 - 28
Livingston ISD -- Closed Wednesday and Thursday.
Needville ISD -- Closed Wednesday through Friday.
Pasadena ISD -- Pasadena ISD will be closed Wednesday 26th through Thursday, August 27. A decision regarding a return to school date will be made by Thursday afternoon.
Rice University -- Classes and normal operations will be suspended at 5 pm Wednesday and all day Thursday. Only essential employees will be allowed in labs.
Santa Fe ISD -- Santa Fe ISD campuses and district offices will have early release at 12 p.m. Tuesday, August 25 through Thursday, August 27.
San Jacinto College -- Closed Wednesday and Thursday.
Shepherd ISD -- Closed Wednesday through Friday.
Splendora ISD -- All Splendora ISD schools and offices will be closed Wednesday, August 26, and Thursday, August 27. Remote learning will also be suspended for these two days. All extracurricular activities will be canceled beginning at 8 a.m. on Wednesday morning through Thursday evening. A determination for reopening schools and resuming activities for Friday will be made by Thursday afternoon.
Spring Branch ISD -- Closed Wednesday and Thursday.
Sweeny ISD -- Closed Wednesday and Thursday.
Texas City ISD -- Texas City ISD will release 12 p.m. Tuesday. The schools will also be closed Wednesday and Thursday. A decision about Friday will be made on Thursday. Virtual classes are cancelled Wednesday, Aug. 26 and Thursday, Aug. 27.
Texas A&M University at Galveston-- is issuing a mandatory evacuation effective Tuesday, August 25. The timeline and access to campus is subject to change over the coming days based on weather conditions.
UH Clear Lake -- Closed as of 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, including Pearland and TMC locations. Classes expected to resume at 7:30 a.m. Monday.
University of Houston -- All instruction moving online Wednesday through Friday.
Willis ISD -- The district will be completely closed Thursday and Friday, August 27-28 and there will be no online learning those days.
