Howdy! We’re Frito and Katy - a couple of "dorks from Texas" who became best friends and started a radio show! Broadcasting brought us together, but our true passion is giving back to the community both on and off the air for 13 years.

We combine entertaining programming with an emphasis on service, and it works. In that time, we’ve volunteered with groups like Special Olympics Texas, Aggieland Humane Society, Lemonade Day, and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

We have been honored to receive the Bonner McLane Award for Community Service from the Texas Association of Broadcasters, Personality of the Year: Small Market Marconi Radio Award and several Crystal Radio awards for community service from the National Association of Broadcasters. Most recently, our show has been recognized with the Major Market Personality CMA Award from the Country Music Association for 2024. We are excited to get out shake some hands, kiss some babies and get involved with the Houston community! Hope to see y'all soon!

Born and raised in Bryan, Texas, Tucker “Frito” Young grew up in Radio, starting his first job at 17 producing “Back Porch Live” from the historic College Station honky-tonk, The Dixie Chicken. After a (too) brief stint at the University of Texas, Frito continued his love of radio back home by joining Katy Dempsey to form Frito & Katy. In his spare time, he’s passionate about animals and serves as a guardian to a menagerie of 6 cats, 4 dogs, a horse and the occasional possum. He likes video games, Tex-Mex and professional wrestling. Frito believes the most important thing about radio is the ability to bring people together through a shared love of music and community.

Katy Dempsey always knew she wanted to pursue a career in radio, growing up in Spring, Texas. She interned with the National Journalism Center in Washington, D.C., where she was placed with Radio America and the American Veterans Center; her passion grew when she started on the radio in College Station and then meeting her radio partner, Frito. When not laughing at her own jokes, she keeps busy with her two toddlers, Lucy & Russell, her husband Stewart and their rat terriers. The love she has for her family is matched only by her love of Tex-Mex, competition and winning awards. For Katy, radio is all about the people we serve and her belief that we have a duty to go beyond merely entertaining audiences, and truly activating the community to give back.
