It was a bit unexpected but Texas' Governor Greg Abbott announced today that he is beginning to explore the plan to rollback Statewide Mandates but no official date has been set. We have 5.1% of the Texas population vaccinated and they're closing watching our hospital capacities and they want to see the state-wide COVID hospitalizations drop below 15% before they really begin a reopening plan.
There have been questions about herd immunity and scientists say Texas is still far off from herd immunity but getting closer the more we give out vaccinations and others develop antibodies.
It's still advised to wear a mask in public, avoid gatherings where possible and wash your hands regularly to avoid the spread of COVID-19. The light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter but it's going to take some more work from us in keeping safe.
