Score one for Dan Quinn: Logan Paulsen, who played for him in Atlanta in 201x and has been a fixture in the media here in DC since retirement, would love to stay in the Commanders family…as a Quinn staffer, maybe a quality control coach or something?

“Working for a guy like Dan? Yeah, I’m definitely looking at it. I’ve always been reluctant to do that – I had the opportunity to do that in the past but was reluctant, but being close to home, and being it’s Quinn, it’s something I would definitely consider,” Paulsen said told BMitch & Finlay Friday. “We’ll see dude. I’ll probably give him a call later today to say congrats and we’ll see what happens, but I’m not trying to push that.”

Shortly after Logan appeared with Brian & JP, Grant Paulsen, who had his namesake on Thursday afternoon to lay out his full thoughts on Quinn, Tweeted this about the above quote:

“Something to watch we’ve mentioned on the show. If they go the Shanahan-tree route there is nobody smarter and more well versed in the offense. Also a Quinn guy. Logan could be an OC in a few years. That type of mind and person. Has had chances to join staffs in the past but this fit would be hard to turn down.”

Paulsen was on the 2018 Falcons team that went 7-9 and that was his last official NFL action, as he spent the first two months of 2019 with the Texans but was not active before being released. He is now, of course, co-host of our Audacy Take Command podcast and a fixture on local Commanders coverage, but could that change?

“Dan is a guy that is a great person first and foremost – he understands your value you as a human being and makes it fun to come to work, and maximizes you on the football field,” Paulsen said. “Atlanta was probably the most fun I had in the NFL. It was such a fun, competitive environment that you were juiced to get out on the field. He created this player-led culture where guys were excited to work together. He’s both a leader of men and an innovative football mind.”

Logan had joined the guys to give some updates on what he saw in Mobile at the Senior Bowl, and confirmed he’s still BPA – that’s best plyer available – for the Commanders with their two early-seconds, because ‘the good thing about this year’s draft is there’s a lot of very talented tackle-type body types, so I’d highlight one of those spots, and then edge rusher or receiver as well – all of the receivers I saw down there were starting caliber, and the edge group came on very strong.’

He also talked OC ideas agrees with JP that linebacker will be a point of emphasis under Quinn – take a listen to the entire segment above!
