BMitch doesn't understand players having issue with short weeks

As Thanksgiving approaches, the Commanders will be operating on a short week after losing to the Giants on Sunday. The Cowboys await on Thursday.

Short weeks and short recovery times for players has been under the microscope since Thursdays have become a full part of the NFL schedule, with the Thursday Night Football product being a source of debate. It is not one that BMitch relates to from a player perspective, at least when it comes to the supposed struggle of a quick turnaround.

"It wasn't a big deal to me," BMitch said. "I made the comment to you that guys would rather play then practice, so if I don't have to be out there Thursday all day dragging around, and I'm playing a game, it's better for me. Short week of practice, let's go play.

"Everything we discussed today is player safety. The players are tired, they're injured. If everything is much better today than it was in the past, then why the hell did the guys just play back then not complain, they just played?"

BMitch played multiple Thanksgiving games in his career, and he never heard players complain about a quick turnaround. In fact, he believes it was preferred when it popped up on the schedule.

"You've allowed everybody to know everything, and people have excuses," BMitch said. "And that's what they go with most times. I'm serious, man. You ask me, to I want to go out and practice Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and play a game Thursday or Friday? Give me the game Thursday or Friday.

"Our practices were physical. Theirs aren't. So maybe they don't want to play the games as much. But we did."
