Ron Rivera apologized, to an extent, on Wednesday for his comments on Tuesday about Eric Bieniemy – and as a solo Danny Rouhier asked if "you can put this thing to bed, or is there still a little splinter of concern" during his show later in the day, he noted that "there may be a dichotomy here that is impossible to reconcile" in the situation.
"On one hand, good job today owning it; you were wrong, you know you were wrong, you owned it, and I like that an awful lot…but I still don't feel all the way satisfied," Danny said. "Is that possible? I like that as a good step, and the proof will be in the pudding here soon, but I don't feel comfortable yet. I think yesterday was more telling than just saying something wrong. I think there was more to it than just 'I didn't explain myself well' – I think it was a brief moment of honesty, like the 'we could be eliminated' moment, a 'this is what's going on, and if it doesn't work out, I'm distancing myself from it' moment. It's whiny players and a coach who doesn't know how to relate to them, and whether it's conscious or subconscious, we haven't even had a preseason game to go through the exercise of failing yet."
