Adam Epstein caught up with Bill Roth on Wednesday (April 19) to break down the Maroon-White football game that opened Virginia Tech's spring football slate.
"Big crowd at Lane Stadium for the game, [the] baseball team swept Georgia Tech in a three-game series [and] the memorial run was incredibly well-attended," Roth said of a banner weekend for the university. "[...] As for the game itself, I think that we saw clearly there's a lot of new players, there's 17 new players already and more coming when the the freshmen arrive. You can see this team has some big-play potential.
"[...] You get a sense [that] Coach [Brent] Pry has clearly flipped his roster, and there's a lot more playmakers -- receivers, quarterbacks, running backs, tight ends, there's new players."
