We’ve got our first look at Jordan Poole in a Washington Wizards jersey, as the team published a series of social media posts with the former Warriors guard on Friday afternoon.

After wearing No. 3 for the first four seasons of his career, Poole has shifted to wearing No. 13 in Washington while also sporting a new beard he grew while traveling in London and Switzerland recently.

“What’s up, Wizards fans?” Poole said. “It’s JP here, checking in. Extremely excited to be here and extremely excited to start a new chapter. I need recommendations, so if you guys have anything – lists, food – lemme know. Let’s get going.”

When the Warriors signed Poole to a four-year, $123 million extension last summer, it was hard to envision he’d be traded by now. On Thursday, Poole officially joined the Wizards along with 2022 draft picks Patrick Baldwin Jr. and Ryan Rollins, as Chris Paul went to Golden State.

It seems everything changed when Poole got punched by Draymond Green last October. The franchise reportedly inked Draymond to a four-year, $100 million extension to keep him with Steph Curry and Klay Thompson -- and brought in Paul to stabilize the second unit.

Despite Poole’s declarations that he is “extremely excited” to join his new squad, it’s hard not to notice that he appeared more reserved than usual and wasn’t the bubbly version we’d often seen with the Warriors. Social media can often take a negative slant, but some of the top replies to the Wizards’ tweets also poked fun at Poole’s enthusiasm.

As Steve Kerr said last season, Poole continues to be a lightning rod of conversation.
