Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) - In the hours before the full 2023 regular season schedule reveal, the National Football League has announced the opening game for the Buffalo Bills in Week 1.
To open the 2023 season, the Bills will head out on the road to face Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets in prime-time on Monday, Sept. 11 at 8:15 p.m. ET.
This is the second-straight season the Bills will open the year in prime-time after opening the 2022 season in Los Angeles against the Super Bowl champion Rams at SoFi Stadium. Buffalo ended up winning their season opener in 2022 with a 31-10 win.
It will be the first time the Bills will open a season on "Monday Night Football" since 2009 when Buffalo came up just short in a 25-24 loss to the New England Patriots in Foxboro.

The 2023 season opener for the Bills will also be the first game for Rodgers under center for the Jets after his acquisition from the Green Bay Packers this offseason.
In addition, this will be the fourth time the Bills will open a season against the Jets in the Sean McDermott era. Buffalo has won all three games against New York in that span, with wins coming to open the 2017, 2019 and 2020 seasons.
This announcement is the second Bills game to be revealed before the official schedule release. The NFL announced its international schedule of games on Wednesday, with the Bills hosting the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 5 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
