Orlando, Fla. (WGR 550) - NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said on Tuesday the league considered putting Buffalo Bills defensive end Von Miller on the Commissioner’s Exempt List last season following allegations of domestic abuse in Texas.
"We did consider that," Goodell told reporters at the annual league meetings in Orlando, Fla. "We felt it was not appropriate at the time based on all the facts."
Goodell says he hasn’t received any recent updates on the case at this time.
Miller was arrested on charges of domestic violence in Texas during the team’s bye week last November.
He has since denied the allegations, calling them 100% false and "blown out of proportion."
The Bills have said they will follow the lead of law enforcement when it comes to the investigation. General manager Brandon Beane also said this week there have been no new updates on the case.
Stadium progress
Goodell is also pleased with the progress of the new Highmark Stadium currently under construction in Orchard Park.
"My understanding is that things are moving along well, and I look forward to seeing it myself,” he said.
The new Highmark Stadium is scheduled to open in 2026.
