The 2022 Heritage Classic was the second game in a row in which it was a ton of fun to be a Buffalo Sabres fan. Those are rare nowadays.
For the second game in a row, the Sabres' game is interesting to talk about, because there is a villain on the other side. Thursday it was Jack Eichel, Sunday it was Auston Matthews.
After being out-muscled and bullied in front of the net by Sabres defenseman Rasmus Dahlin, Matthews threw a temper tantrum and connected on a stupid, filthy, and dangerous cross-check to the neck of Dahlin.
Matthews will receive a hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety.
