Both teams in the upcoming Palmetto Bowl come in with some momentum having won three straight games. South Carolina got their 3rd consecutive victory edging Kentucky 17-14, Saturday night.

Turnover margin was key for the Gamecocks as they were plus three on the night in takeaways. South Carolina won the game despite being held to just 50 yards rushing for the game.

QB Spencer Rattler went 19 of 27 for 207 yards and two TD's. The Gamecock defense stifled Kentucky QB Devin Leary who was 17 of 34 for 171 yards, a TD and a pick.

South Carolina led most of the night. They had a 10-0 1st quarter advantage and led 10-7 at the half. Kentucky took their 1st lead in the 3rd when they scored to go up 14-10 after three quarters. South Carolina regained the lead in the 4th with a 9 play, 74 yard drive that took over 5 minutes off the clock.

The Gamecock defense did the rest forcing a fumble, a punt and a turnover on downs late to seal it. South Carolina hosts Clemson Saturday night in the Palmetto Bowl. The game is set for a 730 PM kickoff and will air on the SEC Network. The Gamecocks need a win to avoid a losing regular season, in year three under Shane Beamer.
