QB Spencer Rattler went 19 of 27 for 207 yards and two TD's. The Gamecock defense stifled Kentucky QB Devin Leary who was 17 of 34 for 171 yards, a TD and a pick.
South Carolina led most of the night. They had a 10-0 1st quarter advantage and led 10-7 at the half. Kentucky took their 1st lead in the 3rd when they scored to go up 14-10 after three quarters. South Carolina regained the lead in the 4th with a 9 play, 74 yard drive that took over 5 minutes off the clock.
The Gamecock defense did the rest forcing a fumble, a punt and a turnover on downs late to seal it. South Carolina hosts Clemson Saturday night in the Palmetto Bowl. The game is set for a 730 PM kickoff and will air on the SEC Network. The Gamecocks need a win to avoid a losing regular season, in year three under Shane Beamer.
