After a hard fought win Wednesday night, Furman Basketball has now taken 10 of their last 11 games and has a chance to win the Southern Conference title.
The Paladins held off Mercer 70-67 at Timmons Arena giving them a season sweep of the series. Furman got a game high 27 points from Forward Jalen Slawson, Guard JP Pegues added 18.
The Paladins are now 23-7 on the season and 14-3 in the Southern Conference. They head into a one game showdown this weekend with Samford for at least a share of the SoCon Regular Season Title. Samford is 15-2 in league play, a win would give Furman a season sweep after they won the 1st meeting, 91-84 on January 25th.
A win would also give them the tie breaker over Samford and clinch a share of the SoCon regular season crown for Furman. A UNC-Greensboro loss and a Furman win on Saturday would give Furman sole possession of the SoCon Regular Season Title.
Furman travels to Samford Saturday for a 2 PM tipoff, you can hear every play of Furman's biggest game of the year on The Fan Upstate.
