Furman Football "Workman Like" In Week Two Win

Furman Football moved to 2-0 on the season after a dominant defensive performance on the road. The Paladins blanked homestanding Tennessee Tech 26-0. The Furman defense set the tone allowing just 121 total yards in the shutout win. Furman had a massive advantage in the run game outgaining Tenn. Tech 167-21 on the ground.

The Furman defense would force three turnovers and Furman would be +3 in the turnover margin.


The Paladins got on the board with a 42 yard TD scamper from RB Devin Wynn. They would add a 32 yard FG from Timmy Bleekrode to go up 10-0. Bleekrode had a total of four Field Goals in the game, later he hit on kicks of 25, 45, and 51. Furman took a 16-0 lead in to the half. The Bleekrode 51 yarder put Furman up 19-0 in the 4th. Furman would put up one more touchdown, when Devin Wynn punched it in from 2 yards out to close the game at 26-0.

For Furman Wynn finished with 84 yards and 2 TD’s on 17 carries. QB Hamp Sisson was efficient going 17 of 29 through the air for 196 yards. Josh Harris had 5 catches for 54 yards, Zach Peterson had 3 catches for 52. 8 different Paladins had at least one catch on the day. Junior Corner Travis Blackshear had two picks for the Furman defense, Dimarcus Clay had one.

The win now propels Furman into their toughest challenge of the season. The Paladins now travel to Raleigh to take on an NC State team, that many around college believe is the second best team in the ACC Atlantic. The week three match up is set for a 7:30 PM kickoff on Saturday.
