Late game heroics lifted Furman to a win on Saturday. In a game heard on The Fan Upstate, the Paladins got a 28-24 win at Campbell. Furman led 11-10 at the half and 18-17 going into the 4th.
Campbell scored on a TD run from JJ Cowan to lead 24-18 early in the 4th. Furman responded with a FG from Ian Williams to make it 24-21. The Paladin defense then forced a punt and the offense went on a 9 play, 80 yard scoring drive.
That drive was capped off with a Trey Hedden TD pass to Evan James to make it 28-24. Campbell then drove the field but the Paladin defense stood tall deep inside their territory and forced a turnover on downs to preserve the win.
Furman is now 2-1 on the season. The Paladins are off this week, they open SoCon play at Samford Sept. 27th.
