There are 10 regions around Upstate High School Football that we have been covering and tracking all season. Those include Regions 1 and 2 in 5A, Regions 1 and 2 in 4A, Regions 1-4 in 3A, 2A Region 1 and Region 1 1A. Of those 10 regions, 7 of them have already crowned Region Champs. Three are still to be decided this Friday, in the regular season's final week. In this article, we will look at the games left to decide Region Champs, who has already won Region Titles and the likely 1st round playoff matchups for each region champs.

Games This Week To Determine Region Titles

Region 3 3A - Broome hosts Chapman. It's simple in this region the winner of this game is Region Champs, loser is 2nd place. 2nd place finished in every region in all classes is guaranteed a 1st round home playoff game. Region Champs would get at least 2 home playoff games. The winner of Region 3-3A hosts the 4th place team from region 4 3A which is Emerald. Loser of Broome vs Chapman will get the 3rd place team from region 4. That would be Woodruff, if they beat Union County on Friday.

Region 2 4A- Riverside can win Region 2 4A outright with a home win vs Greer on Friday. A loss for Riverside would mean a 3 way tie for 1st in region with Greer and Laurens. The tiebreakers in Region 2 4A is a point value system, that awards points based on your wins against the region's teams based on their finishes. My calculations could be off, but as I have it all three teams would have the same point values. As Riverside has a win over Laurens, Greer would then own a win over Riverside and Laurens already owns a win over Greer. That would bring it to points allowed , which going into the regular season's final week Riverside has an edge in. Riverside could make this easy with a win over Greer, if not we will be looking for the fall out and let you know how the dominoes fall on the Saturday Morning Scramble. Region 2 4A's top finisher will host Region 3's 4th place team, which will likely be Indian Land or York.

Region 1 1A- Another simple one the winner of Southside Christian at Christ Church, will be Region Champs. The loser will be 2nd place. The winner of this game will host the 4th place finisher of Region 3, which is likely to be McBee. The 2nd place team in Region 1 will host the 5th place team from Region 4, which is likely to be Blackville Hilda.

Region Champs Already Crowned (Region Champs would have homefield in at least 2 playoff games, possibly more)

Region 2 5A Champs- Gaffney. The Indians clinched with a home win over Dorman. They will host the 5th place team from Region 3, Rock Hill in the 1st round.

Region 1 5A Champs - TL Hanna. The Yellow Jackets knocked off Hillcrest which sowed up the Region Title for them. They are off this week and will host Region 4's 4th place finisher White Knoll.

4A Region 1 Champs- Greenville High. The Red Raiders smashed Greenwood to wrap up the Region crown last week. They will get the 4th place team from region 4 which is likely to be Aiken.

3A Region 1 Champs- Daniel. The Lions will open their quest for a 3-peat at home. They host the 4th place finisher in region 2 3A which will be Southside High, granted that Southside beats Fountain Inn this week.

3A Region 2 Champs- Powdersville. Coach Robert Mustar's guys wrapped the Region Title last week with a win. They are unbeaten in region play and own tie breaker over BHP, after beating them. Powdersville will get the 4th place finisher from region 1 which is likely to be Crescent.

3A Region 4 Champs- Clinton. The Red Devils are unbeaten and have been smashing everybody in their path. They've won every game by 14 or more. They will host the 4th place team from Region 3. Travelers Rest and Blue Ridge play Friday, the winner will be 3rd in Region 3 and the loser will be 4th and go to Clinton.

Region 1 2A Champs- Abbeville. The Panthers will open the postseason hosting the 6th place team from Region 4, which is Columbia.

We will have all the results and updated standings on this Saturday's edition of the Scramble. We hope the South Carolina High School League has the updated brackets out prior to the show Saturday morning. If not, I will do my best to piece it all together prior and have a preview of all the playoff games involving teams in our coverage area.
