It was over 50 years, that Georgia and Arkansas met with both teams ranked in the top 10, the setting was the Orange Bowl. Arkansas currently has their best ranking in nearly a decade. Georgia has been dominant defensively in their four games, Arkansas has been prolific offensively, something has to give Saturday in Athens.
Georgia's defense has not allowed more than 13 points in a game all season. The Bulldogs rank #1 nationally in total defense, allowing just over 180 total yards per game and 3.27 yards per play. They also are #1 in scoring defense and tied for 3rd in 1st downs allowed.
It'll be strength on strength come Saturday. As Georgia's run defense which is 6th in the nation allowing 66 yards per game, meets an Arkansas run game that ranks 7th racking up 261 yards on the ground per contest. The game is set to kick at high noon "between the hedges". Arkansas Head Coach Sam Pittman returns to Athens after being on the Georgia staff from 2016-2019. During Wednesday's SEC Teleconference Pittman had high praise for Georgia's defense. In the clip below, Pittman talked about how to scheme against the Georgia defense.
