The University Of South Carolina has named their new Baseball Coach. Paul Maineri will now take the reigns of the program.

Prior to this hire in Columbia, Mainieri served as the Head Coach at LSU from 2007 through 2021 and led them to the College World Series multiple during his tenure. He also was at the helm of the program when LSU won their last national title in 2009.

Prior to that, he built Notre Dame into a postseason contender leading them to the College World Series in 2002. Mainieri takes over in Columbia for Coach Mark Kingston who was fired after the Gamecocks were eliminated in the Regional round this season. The program failed to reach the College World Series in 7 seasons under Kingston.

Mainieri is the active career wins leader in Division I. He's set to be officially introduced at a press conference set for 4 PM Thursday.
