Bears' Khalil Herbert (hip) to return from injured reserve, while Teven Jenkins (neck) gets 'encouraging' news

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (670 The Score) -- A key presence is returning to the Bears' backfield.

Bears running back Khalil Herbert (hip) is set to be designated for a return from injured reserve and could be activated ahead of Chicago's game against Buffalo on Saturday at Soldier Field, coach Matt Eberflus said Monday.

"He's got all his jumps, his speed, he's been cutting, he's been moving," Eberflus said. "He looks great. We're excited about his return."

By designating Herbert's return from injured reserve, the Bears would open a 21-day window for his activation.

Herbert has rushed 108 times for 643 yards and four scores in 10 games this season. He suffered the hip injury while returning a kick in a loss to the Lions on Nov. 13.

In other injury news, Bears right guard Teven Jenkins has received "encouraging" news after leaving with a neck injury Sunday, Eberflus said. Jenkins is visiting with specialists Monday, and the Bears hope to have further information on his health available later this week. Jenkins had to be carted off the field in the first quarter Sunday.

The Bears are still waiting on details on injuries to cornerback Jaylon Johnson (rib) and linebacker Jack Sanborn (ankle).

The Bears (3-11) and Bills (11-3) kick off at noon CT on Saturday at Soldier Field.
