(670 The Score) The Blackhawks continue to stockpile draft capital.
As the second day of the NHL Draft got underway Thursday, the Blackhawks landed a 2026 second-round pick from the Islanders in a salary dump that sent veteran forward Josh Bailey from New York to Chicago. The Blackhawks will send the Islanders future considerations, which won't be of any substance.
Bailey, 33, has one year and $5 million left on his contract. He had 25 points in 64 games last season. The Blackhawks placed him on unconditional waivers shortly after acquiring him, according to reports.
The Blackhawks' move came after they made two picks in the first round Wednesday and entered Thursday with nine selections. The Blackhawks also have a haul of draft picks to use in the coming years, as Athletic writer Mark Lazerus pointed out.
