Rick “Doc” Walker a veteran of nine NFL seasons distinguished himself on the football field with his blocking and timely pass catching. Rick was a starting tight end for Coach Joe Gibbs 1982 World Champion Washington Football Team. He developed the concept of the Skins “Fun Bunch” and was an original member of the famed offensive linemen known as the “HOGS.” He started for coach Dick Vermeil’s 1976 UCLA Bruins Rose Bowl Champions and received Lineman of the Year honors in 1977, Also that year; the Associated Press honored Rick an All American. The pride of Santa Ana Valley High School 1973 Irvine League Championswas inducted to the Hall of Fame in 2017.
As a broadcaster, Rick has been a college football television analyst for ESPN, The Big East Network, and The ACC. As well as a color analyst for the NFL on CBS-Westwood One Radio. Currently, Rick is the sideline reporter for the Washington Football Team. He enters his 26th year in radio as co-host of the Doc & Galdi show on The Team 980 & 95.9 FM. And is the host of Doc Walker’s ProView. Selling Power Magazine chose Rick “Doc” Walker as one of the region’s top motivational speakers, for speaking engagements Rick specializes in corporate team building and sales training.
He’s been awarded the George Michael Excellence in Media Award, The Thomas G. Corcoran Award from the University Club of Washington DC and the 2018 Urban One Honors Sports legend award. He’s a member of the Shirley Povich Center Advisory Board, Executive Committee of the DC Touchdown Club and Washington DC Sports Hall of Fame selection committee.
As an event chairman, he has helped the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the Alzheimer’s Association, the Arthritis Foundation, And Walking with Anthony. Currently, he hosts the annual Doc Walker ProView golf event to benefit the National Kidney Foundation.
