With the NFL season just days away, Kevin Sheehan brought on The Athleitc's Ben Standig to look ahead to the Washington Commanders home opener and discuss the future of quarterback Sam Howell, head coach Ron Rivera, and a little about what Washington did (or didn't do) in the 2023 NFL Draft to address a huge need at offensive line.
Looking ahead to Sunday's game, Standing agreed with Sheehan about the importance for winning from the business side and for Washington's hopes about the season, especially with some tough games in the weeks ahead.
"There's no such thing as a must-win game in Week 1, but this is a don't lose game," Standig said. "...it's definitely don't lose this game."
And when asked about the chance of Terry McLaurin and Chase Young playing in Week 1, Standing said a lot will depend upon if either one practices on Wednesday. And there is the possibility that with the lowly Cardinals team coming to town Washington might not risk either of their key contributors unless they are 100 percent ready to play.
