As the Commanders prepare for their first preseason game this weekend, reports out of training camp indicate that constant movement and motion has become paramount for Eric Bieniemy’s offense.
That has The Sports Junkies excited for what that could mean for the offense this season.
“They’re relying on some YAC. Some yards after the catch,” Cakes said. “If they’re majoring in the short passing game, that means Dotson, McLaurin, Samuel, if he can stay healthy, get to make some plays after they catch the ball on short routes.”
Short routes from quality receivers could help the young and inexperienced Sam Howell at quarterback, getting the ball out of his hands quickly and letting his speedy receivers do the rest. If Bieniemy gets that type of offense buzzing, The Junks have high hopes for what’s to come.
“Got an opportunity to be a little more of an exciting offense, maybe one of the most exciting offenses we’ve seen since Jay was here,” EB said. “Jay [Gruden] would always move the chains. Sometimes struggled to find the end zone, but Jay’s offense was always fairly prolific.”
