Cystic Fibrosis is a progressive, genetic disease that affects the lungs, pancreas and other organs. There are about 1,000 new cases of CF diagnosed each year through genetic testing and newborn screening. Today because of improved treatment and care, about 60% of people with CF are age 18 or older. Many with CF can expect to live healthy, fulfilling lives into their 30's, 40's and 50's and beyond, nearly 20 years longer than a decade ago.
The mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is to cure Cystic Fibrosis and to provide people with CF the opportunity to lead long, fulfilling lives by funding research and drug development, partnering with the CF community, and advancing high-quality, specialized care.
