An illegal immigrant and Georgia man are expected to spend the next quarter century behind bars for drug trafficking. The charges came after a traffic stop in Anderson County in 2023.
Officials say, over 200 thousand dollars worth of cocaine was found inside a blue tooth speaker in the vehicle. 32 year old, Jamaican National Matthew Hemmings and Anthony Dixon of Loganville, Georgia were then arrested.
Investigators learned that Hemmings who used the alias Heartnell Powell was an illegal immigrant who had been previously deported under his legal name.
Both men have been sentenced to 25 years in prison and will have to serve 85 percent of their sentences before being eligible for early release.
