A murder suspect has died while in custody at a Western North Carolina jail. The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office says 33 year old, Douglas Michael Stroupe was found unresponsive in his call, around 1PM Monday. He was taken to Asheville's Mission Hospital where he later died.
Stroupe was being held there after being charged in connection to a deadly stabbing in Asheville, last year. He was being held on charges of murder, attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and burglary.
The NCSBI has been called in to investigate the inmate's death. No further details have been released, as of this time.
