A mom and dad from Charlotte are facing charges after police say they became combative after performing "black magic rituals". The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded Wednesday to a home on Charlotte's Eastside.
The incident report said that a neighbor had called the police after hearing loud screaming and saw things being burned. Upon arrival, officers heard screaming coming from inside the home. Once the door opened they saw the parents and four children, two of those children were 5 years old or under.
Police say, that inside the home nearly every piece of decor and furniture was destroyed . Large knives, blow-torch lighters and other items that could be harmful to children were found.
The arrest report cites that the father 35-year-old Gabriel Antonio Santos-Funes then began rubbing garlic and a Bible on officers. That's when the mother 33-year-old Maria Valladares allegedly grabbed an officer and then tried biting the officer's leg.
Both parents are charged with child abuse, assaulting an officer, resisting arrest and other crimes.
