A suspect accused of killing a teenager in Charlotte is in custody after being apprehended in Western North Carolina. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department says 28 year old, Taquan Lewis was wanted for a shooting in the Northeastern part of Charlotte, Tuesday.
Officers were dispatched to the shooting and arrived to found a teenager suffering with multiple gunshot wounds. Lewis had already fled the scene. The victim 16 year old, Joseph Samuel was taken to a hospital, where later died.
Lewis was located in the small Rutherford County town of Bostic, some 60-plus miles away. He was taken into custody and is charged with murder and a weapons violation.
