A six-hour standoff in the Upstate Friday ended with a suspect in custody after a chase ended with deputies. The Oconee County Sheriff's Office say, a deputy tried stopping a Lexus SUV, just after 1PM Friday.
The driver identified as 57 year old, Doyle Eugene McCall Jr. pulled over on Sheep Farm Road in the Bountyland Community. However, when the deputy approached the vehicle, McCall took off and a chase ensued. The chase ended when the vehicle crash on Highway 183 in Walhalla.
After the crash, deputies learned there was a woman also inside the vehicle and McCall was armed with a gun. Officials say McCall had active warrants and SWAT was called in.
The woman was able to escape the vehicle. Eventually McCall surrendered peacefully just after 7PM and was taken into custody. He's charged with Failure to stop for blue lights, resisting arrest, driving under suspension, reckless driving.
