Fire officials are investigating a deadly house fire that spread into the woods nearby, Tuesday evening in Pickens County. The blaze occurred around 5:30PM on Red Hawk Road near Pumpkintown.
The Pickens County Coroner’s Office says a woman died in the fire, her identity has not yet been released, as of the time of this report.
The South Carolina Forestry Commission says, that fire also spread into a wooded area near the home and was extinguished about an hour later.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by SLED and Pickens County authorities.
