An Upstate man is facing a long list of charges after he reportedly groomed and repeatedly sexually abused a child. The Oconee County Sheriff's Office says 39 year old, Daniel Christopher Harman of West Union was arrested Monday on over 50 total counts of criminal sexual conduct with minor.
He's charged with 26 counts of the crime in the 1st degree and and 27 counts in the 2nd degree. The investigation began in September when a family member and the victim reported the sexual abuse.
The Sheriff's Office says further investigation determined that Harman had began molesting the victim in 2018. The abuse escalated into further sexual acts including sexual intercourse between 2020 and 2022. The victim was a child when the abuse began and it was ongoing while they were a teenager.
If convicted, Harman faces a potential maximum sentence of life in prison.
