A reserve police officer in the Upstate has died. The Pickens Police Department says, reserve officer Brandon Eich died Monday while returning home from work. Officials say, Eich suffered a medical emergency, but no specifics have been released.
Eich was a reserve officer for the Pickens Police Department, prior to that he had been a high ranking officer in the state department of corrections. Eich's role in Pickens was mostly as a drone operator providing support in searches.
He was also known for working in youth mentoring programs and helping establish a foundation that provided specialized law enforcement training.
Officials with Pickens Police Department described Eich as larger-than-life and generous. The Department said in a social media statement " Brandon, we are better because we knew you.”
