Greenville County Coroner's Office

The victim has been identified after a deadly incident at an Greenville asphalt plant death. The coroner's office was called to the Panagakos Asphalt plant on Greencove Drive, Friday after a reported industrial accident.

Shortly before noon, 28-year-old Kelsy Vance Justus of Forest City, North Carolina, was pronounced dead outside the plant. An autopsy performed Saturday determined Justus died from traumatic asphyxia. The National Institutes of Health describes traumatic asphyxia as a rare condition caused by severe blunt trauma to the chest or upper abdomen.

The coroner’s office ruled the death accidental. Justus's death remains under investigation by the Greenville County Coroner's Office, the county forensics division, OSHA, and law enforcement.
