CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Abdullah Motiwala was just out of college and had worked for a year in the pharmaceutical industry when he had an idea borne out of something he didn’t like: honey.
“It started with not liking honey, [which] became more so a passion,” Motiwala said.
In 2015, he founded Heaven’s Honey.
“I’m the biggest foodie I know,” he said. “I love food. I love going to eat out. I love experiencing new flavors, and I thought maybe there’s an opportunity here to create something that hasn’t been created.”
The honey is locally sourced and all-natural. Motiwala established a co-op with local farmers.
“I did start this in my kitchen,” Motiwala said. “I still have some pictures of me, you know, stirring the pot, infusing different types of flavors.”

They include lemon, cinnamon, habanero, mango, orange, strawberry, and hickory-smoked, among others.
In a press release, Heaven’s Honey said it’s “committed to reinvesting in the local bee population to support bee preservation.”
The products are in local grocery stores and are used by some of the area’s top chefs.
It’s Heaven’s Honey, and it’s Made in Chicago.
