Rev. Raphael Warnock calls it “A defining moment in American history.” Warnock, the 15-year pastor of Martin Luther King Jr.’s church home, is running to become Georgia’s first black U.S. Senator.
Beyond making history, Warnock says “We have an opportunity to make a difference.”
Warnock tells V103’s Morning Culture with Big Tigger that as the leader of Atlanta’s Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church, he’s been focused on the kind of ministry that is “as very much involved outside the church doors as it is inside.”
There are so many issues on the ballot, adds Warnock, including healthcare, voting rights, economic justice, and criminal justice reform. “These are issues that I’ve worked on for years, and I’m looking forward to bringing my activism to the United State Senate.”
Recent polls indicate Warnock has a double-digit lead over U.S. Senator Kelly Loeffler and Doug Collins, the two top Republicans in the race. If no candidate gets 50 percent of the vote, the two top vote-getters would compete in a runoff in January.
