AutoNSider Review | 2020 GMC Acadia AWD AT4

Don’t recognize the name “AT4”? That’s ‘cause the AT4 is a new trim level for the ‘20 Acadia.
If you want almost all the luxury of a Denali…all of the capability…and you want it for around $4,000 less…this just might be your ride.
The AT4 comes ready to work…or tour the town in style. GM’s 310 HP, 3.6 liter V6 is standard…as is GM’s new 9-speed automatic. Together they’ll get you to 60 in just a hair over 6 seconds…and still deliver 17 City and 25 Highway MPGs…all for a price starting in the low $40’s.
But so will a number of vehicles. The AT4’s point of distinction is that it throws in a good measure of genuine off-road and towing capability, too…starting with over seven inches of ground clearance.
All-Wheel Drive with “Sport”, “Off-Road”, and “Trailer-Towing” selections is standard. You can tow up to 4,000 lbs, and with available “Hitch Mode”, you’ve got a rear-view cam that allows you to zoom in on your hitch while lining things up, and check on your load while under way. Plus, for serious off-road activity, the AT4 gives you “Hill-Descent” and “Hill-Start”…giving you maximum control in those conditions.
And then the frosting on the cake includes 17” black alloys, heated premium leather, an 8” screen and an 8-speaker Bose sound system, an available dual-panel sunroof, and a hands-free programmable tailgate.
Seating comes in 5, 6, or 7-seat options with the available third row. Cargo capacity behind the second row is 42 cu ft…and the load floor with the second row folded is completely flat…allowing for some serious hauling.
All of today’s expected connectivity and safety features are either standard or available.
Our AT4 started with a $42,495 window sticker. Less than three thousand more in options had us in a capable, luxury vehicle that included HD and Sirius radio, driver alerts, intelligent high-beams, front and rear parking assist and more.
Again, you’ve got a darned attractive selection of luxurious $40K vehicles from which to choose. Where the GMC Acadia AT4 leaves a number of them in the dust is its combination of luxury AND its off-road and towing capability.
