One thing that I like about Cadillac is their “Oh Yeah?” factor.
What do I mean?
Well, it’s been 17 years since Cadillac got tired of hearing the European manufacturers boast about their performance.
So they created their V-Series. And it took ‘em a few years, but soon Cadillacs were circling the world’s most famous race tracks as fast…or faster…than their European competition. Oh Yeah? turned into Oh, YEAH!
And then there’s Cadillac’s styling. The vertical front and rear lighting is unmistakable. Kinda’ like Cadillac is borrowing from Frank Sinatra and telling the rest of the automotive world something like “Hey…thanks, guys, but we’ll just do it our way.”
We were lucky enough to be able to get behind the wheel of Cadillac’s CT4 V for a week. The CT4 is fairly new for Cadillac…born in 2020.
While it’s the smallest sedan that Cadillac makes, the CT4 still has plenty of room for four or five plus luggage. And it’s “no fat” exterior and excellent visibility make it a nimble delight to drive.
So while CT4s start in the mid $30’s with a 2.0 liter turbo four, the performance V- Series gets the largest four-cylinder available in a sedan today…a 2.7 liter turbo with a dual intake for increased stoplight “go”. The result is 325 HP. And combined with Cadillac’s 10-speed automatic, you’re always geared to go. Figure on going zero to 60 in around 5.5 seconds.
And as you might expect, Brembo brakes, Cadillac’s race-inspired computer suspension, 18” alloys with run-flat summer tires, limited slip, and an aero package are all part of the mid-$40’s CT4V-Series base price.
Adding heated and ventilated adjustable massaging seats and the few remaining safety alerts that aren’t already standard brought our window sticker to just a hair over 50 thousand…including destination fees.
Mileage is rated at 20 MPG city and 28 hwy…although we got just a bit better than that on the road…even with the optional bargain-priced all-wheel-drive.
Need more? I didn’t, but if you want the ultimate go-fast CT4, there’s a V Blackwing out there with your name on it…complete with Cadillac’s twin turbo V-6 and a $60-something price tag.
If “Sport Sedan” is on your list, and you prefer to do things your way, you might find a lot to like about Caddy’s CT4 V-Series.
Need another reason? Audi just announced that they’ve stopped developing new internal combustion engines.
Cadillac hasn’t.
Just sayin’…………
