Yes…Nissan's re-designed King Daddy SUV starts just a hair under 50 thousand and brings you a roomy three-row with a 5.6 liter, 400 HP V-8 with a 7-speed auto that's able to tow up to 8,500 lbs.

Not enough?

OK…you also get a 12.3" screen and the security of knowing that the Armada was recently rated by J. D. Power as having the Highest Initial Quality among large SUVs.   Plus you'll get intelligent lane intervention, intelligent forward collision warning and blind spot intervention...again, all standard.

These "intervention" features are a big step up from yesterday's "alerts"…as they'll actually take over and nudge you back into the proper lane should you nod off or simply not be paying attention.

Need more?

Then option it up.

We tested Nissan's new "Midnight Edition" SV Armada that bumped up that window sticker to just under 61K, but left us lacking darned little.

In addition to the re-designed Armada's new more "muscled-up" look, the SL delivered a sunroof, 13-speaker Bose audio, Wi-Fi and Apple and Android connectivity, all-around-view, 4 USB ports, a power rear lift gate, front and rear sonar to really ease parking, side step rails, roof rails, and a towing package.

Then the Midnight Package upped the ante with 20" alloys with black accents, and black interior and exterior trim.

Mileage for a big boy like this is going to be pretty much right what you'd expect…14 city and 19 highway.   We usually averaged around 18 – 19 in our week-long commutes.

As with most three-rows, you've got room for 7 or 8…depending upon whether you go with second-row captains chairs or a bench.

And as for cargo, check out the pictures and see how the Armada swallowed a 9-foot kayak.  That's a total of 95.4 cu ft of space with the second and third rows folded.   Plus you've got "secret" storage under the second row as well as under the floor in the very back.

In short, Nissan's new redesigned Armada is a capable full-sized SUV with a full menu of features and options to fit almost any desire and any need…and budget. There's a lot of competition out there with full-sized 3-row SUVs…and this big guy now looks like it can go toe-to-toe with the best of 'em.

Whole lotta' capability for the price.
