Yep.  KIA's all-new EV6 is all-electric.  And if this is a peek into the future, it's bright enough that we might all need sunglasses!

If you've been paying attention, you've heard that all new vehicles will be totally electric within 15 years of so.   And so far, Tesla has pretty much owned this growing market.   But that was then and this is now.

Yes…KIA's all-new EV6 is a true rival to anything on the road these days…electric or conventional gas-engined.

For starters, no more of the…let's be polite…"goofy" styling that the early all-electrics seemed to have.   The EV6 is a smooth and swoopy five-door crossover hatch with room for 5 adults and a little over 50 cu ft of space in the back with your second row folded.

And depending upon your choice of trim, those passengers can be quite comfortable in heated and ventilated "vegan" leather or recycled fabric seating.

But let's answer some of those all-electric questions before we get into all of that.

Let's start with Porsche-like acceleration.   0-60 in 4.6 seconds with their dual-motor version.

Range?   Up to 310 miles with front-wheel-drive, and 274 with all-wheel-drive.

And at a public 800v DC fast-charging station, you can pick up over 200 miles of range in just 18 minutes.

So what sacrifices will you have to make to go all-electric in KIA's new EV6?

None, really…at least not if you can charge at home or live or work near one of the many public charging locations.   And BTW, Atlanta is one of the top cities in the nation in terms of available public charging locations…with more on the way daily.

Spec out your EV6 in top trim and you'll enjoy the heated, ventilated seating that we mentioned earlier, plus heated steering, 14-speaker premium Meridian audio, 19" alloys, a power tailgate, surround-view, an augmented reality heads-up system, and HDA-2 hands-on semi-autonomous driving technology.

Did KIA leave out much there?   It doesn't appear so, does it?

Oh…and bring a few toys along if you like.   The EV6 can tow up to 2,300 lbs.

So how much for all of this?   The EV6 starts in the very low $40's…and with the federal tax credit, that's mid $30's all-in…even with transportation included.

Go all out on the options list and it'll be closer to the mid-$50's before you factor in the $7,500 credit.

And speaking of money, KIA estimates that the EV6 could save the owner $8,000 over five years.   But with gas prices at all-time highs, I'm guessing that figure might be more like a ten thousand dollar savings.

The future is now.   Take a peek at KIA's new EV6 and see if you don't agree.   Just bring your sunglasses.
