The strife began May 10 after Babyface tweeted explaining his absence from their Newark, NJ show at the Prudential Center.
"I am truly sorry to my fans who have been waiting for us to hit the stage this evening at @PruCenter. I was asked not to perform in order to give Ms. Baker her space and time to perform her show in its entirety," he wrote.
Leaving fans unhappy, they began to come for Baker online.
On Monday, she asked Babyface to call off his fans, "@Babyface Please call off, your fans. I have been Only Kind and Supportive, of You, as the Special Guest/Support, on My Tour," she wrote.
As the bullying continued, Baker said enough was enough. On Tuesday, she released a statement explaining that, for the sake of her safety, she will continue the tour without him.
"After Silently, Enduring Cyber Bulling/Verbal Abuse & Threats of Violence from the Fan Base, of Our Special Guest/Support Act. In the Interest of Personal Safety. I will continue, The Songstress Tour, alone," she said, also making it clear that if you're mad about him being removed from the tour-- a refund won't be a problem.
Babyface responded to the news "disheartened" by how things played out.
"I am saddened by the news that Anita Baker has decided to remove me from ‘The Songtress Tour,'" he wrote.
