Charles Barkley stopped by “Dukes & Bell” for his weekly visit and took the NBA MVP voting process to task.
“In 1989 it was the closest vote ever. Magic Johnson beat me by a couple of votes and the only thing that bothered me was that I received all the first place votes and no other votes. I don’t mind if you vote for somebody else, but I have to be in your top three. So guys either loved me or hated me.”
Barkley also feels when the media plays a role in determining the MVP, it perhaps may not be for the right reasons.
The reason I don’t like some sportscasters is their job is to be fair. It’s not for them to say who they like, dislike or are friends with. Their job is to vote for who had the best regular season, and they do have their favorites and it drives me crazy.”
