DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond says he's standing behind President Joe Biden "1000 percent" as he seeks a second term.

Biden made his reelection announcement this week. Already the oldest U.S. President at 80 years old, Biden says he expects voters to "take a hard look" at his age, as he has done.

"I believe he will be the most experienced President we've had," says Thurmond. It's not about age, he says, but rather will Biden "have the stamina and the health to be able to fulfill the responsibilities of the job."

Georgia Democrat Thurmond believes Biden has demonstrated so far that he can get the job done. "He's the Trump Kryptonite," says Thurmond, adding that Biden is the one "that has figured out how to defeat Donald Trump in a race."

A former Georgia state lawmaker, and state labor commissioner, Thurmond goes on to say "I don't look so much at the age, I look at how or if the person can do the job of which they're appointed and I believe that Joe Biden can get it done."

At the end of his second term, Biden would be 86 years old.
