One of the Atlanta Braves’ new offseason acquisitions has struggled throughout Spring Training, and yesterday the Braves made a move that raised some eyebrows, but earlier today our own Braves insider and reporter Grant McAuley told The Morning Shift why Adam Duvall being back in a Braves uniform has nothing to do with Jarred Kelenic’s Spring Training struggles.

“There is absolutely no reason for the Braves to panic, to shift their focus, to turn to alternatives, after a couple of weeks of Grapefruit League games for a guy that if you watch the at-bats I mean they’re fine. He’s hit a lot of balls hard, he only has a couple of hits I understand that, and I know in Spring Training everybody wanted to see him come in and you know light the league on fire and then go out and become a superstar and do all those things but that’s just not what the Braves are expecting from Jarred Kelenic or what they’re asking him to do. I mean these are literal exhibition games, these are not numbers, I mean we’re keeping them, but they don’t really count.”

Grant also goes on to talk about Adam Duvall being signed to a one-year three million dollar deal because of his bat, especially his effectiveness against left-handed pitching, and his ability to provide depth at all three outfield spots, not because of Jarred Kelenic’s struggles in Spring Training.

However, if Kelenic does struggle Adam Duvall is also a very good backup plan for the Braves, but he does provide very good depth if the Braves face any injuries in the outfield, but right now is no time to panic about Jarred Kelenic if you’re a Braves fan.
