The Atlanta Braves offense showed some life Tuesday night as they beat the Washington Nationals 5-2. That’s right, five runs. But this was only the second game in the Month of May where the Braves score as many.

This game featured another great performance by rookie catcher Drake Baldwin, and also saw Ozzie Albies break an 0-for-28 slump with two hits of his own. The Braves are starting to show signs of life, as they also finally saw their record get to .500. Atlanta can now focus on chasing down the Phillies and Mets.

But something else pretty awesome happened Tuesday Night to the Atlanta Braves.

Ronald Acuña Jr. hit a home run in his rehab start with the Braves team that plays in the Florida Complex league. For some context, these are rookie-level players, but to see Acuña Jr. on the field at all after rehabbing his second ACL repair, has to have Braves fans feeling a little fuzzy inside.

Acuña Jr. will head to Gwinnett and start for the Stripers Wednesday night, meaning that his return, barring any setbacks, will probably happen within the next week or so. The return of Acuña Jr., plus the offense showing some positive signs, could mean the Braves are headed out of mediocrity as the team turns the page to June.

Andy Bunker and Randy McMichael talk more about the Braves getting back even, Acuña Jr.’s return, and what the rest of 2025 may look like for the Atlanta Braves.
