Monday night, the Atlanta Braves won another late-inning thriller, this time walking it off in the bottom of the ninth versus the Washington Nationals. That makes seven straight games decided by one run, with the Braves winning four of them. Now, this game was not a one-run game until the top of the ninth, when Raisel Iglesias allowed a couple of base runners then came around to score on a throwing error by shortstop Nick Allen.
It has been a tumultuous start of the season for Iglesias, but he has had elite seasons before, including 2024 that did not get off to the best start either.
Iglesias’ up-and-down season reminds of the season that Will Smith had in 2021, where the up-and-down appearances drove fans crazy, as the Braves seemed to only win one-run games with runners on in the ninth.
Smith ended up becoming one of the Braves’ World Series heroes, as he pitched lights-out on the entire playoff run.
