“For being 20 years old and to debut in a big situation, I thought he did great," Bret Boone explained. "And obviously he’s got the stuff.”
Former Major League Baseball player, Bret Boone, joined The Morning Shift Monday and that was his reaction to the debut of AJ-Smith Shawver. The three-time All-Star and four-time Gold Glover already sees the physical attributes Smith-Shawver brings to the table saying “obviously the physical is there.”
The Braves No. 4 overall prospect had a clean 1-2-3 inning in his debut and finished his outing pitching 2 ⅓ innings, giving up no hits or runs, only walking one, and striking out three batters.
It looks like everybody can see the talent that the youngster possesses. Now it’s about consistency for the Braves rookie right-hander, and if Smith-Shawver shows that, he could be on the same trajectory as Spencer Strider and start out as a huge threat in the bullpen and eventually work his way up to being the starting pitcher the Braves envision him being one day.
