Around the yard with the Braves as 92.9 The Game’s Grant McAuley joined Dukes & Bell for his normal appearance and talked about the series with the Padres and why he thinks Charlie Morton has finally figured things out.
McAuley talked about what he thought was biggest positive of Padres series for Braves.
“I don’t know if there was a bigger positive that came out of the Padres series than watching him back up the start that he had against the Brewers the previous time out and just come back out there and take it to another level,” McAuley said. “I saw more swings and misses for Charlie Morton, he got eight whiffs on his curveball and that’s a big deal because he had a string of I believe three or four starts in a row where he didn’t get eight total swings and misses in the game. That’s the pitch for him, that’s the one that sets everything up to be able to put away hitters.”
Grant told the guys he thinks Morton has finally got it going.
“I think he looked so much better in this last couple of outings it leads me to believe that maybe Charlie Morton has solved the riddle that he was facing over the first month or so.”
