Atlanta Braves fans got good news today as it’s being reported that they could get starting pitchers Mike Soroka and Huascar Ynoa back sometime in August along with catcher Travis d’Arnaud. Dukes & Bell talked about what this could mean for the team, and will it change what the team does at the trade deadline?
Dukes said this news could change how the Braves approach the trade deadline in July.
“In August we could get back, and it’s a big could, we’ll see when but Mike Soroka, Travis d’Arnaud and Huascar Ynoa. In essence what I’m telling you is you’re getting back two starting pitchers back in your rotation and you’re getting a big bat in d’Arnaud back,” Dukes said. “We miss d’Arnaud, it’s a guy we haven’t talked about a lot, we’ve talked a lot more about Ozuna, but d’Arnaud was great last year and this wicked crazy injury that happened that’s had him out that he’s recovering from could help our batting lineup.”
“The only reason I think this is important is if you’re going we have to go get a starting pitcher, well not if you think you’re getting two back. Remember Ynoa was great, and he made a dumb personal decision punching a wall or whatever he did but he was really good given the opportunity. The point is you could be getting two starting pitchers back and a guy behind the plate who helps your lineup, that to me changes how I’m thinking about this potential trade deadline.”
